System requirements to host an RM server?

Post by m0odz »

Hi Randy et al

I am in the process of convincing the XYL that my RTX 2080 needs upgrading in my main workhorse.
What specs would I need to host a server for you?

I have 2 gigabit internet (youfibre you2000) and let's just say it is massively underutilised :p It was only £5 more expensive than my previous 1 gigabit (you1000) and I have a static IP address.

My current system is built around Proxmox with the GPU passed through to my Windows VM, so almost bare metal speeds.
If I add a second GPU I can dedicate a VM to it so it won't affect me in the slightest :D

I await your input

Hi Greg.

I've built each server around bare metal PCs with Nvidia 4090/5090 cards.

I'll send more information to your email.

I just started trying this today so not quite at a commitment point. Impressive though, difference between making QSO's and not.

M0odz setup is common for folks experimenting with LLMs.
While not at a point to commit to a full server, I would not mind some time working with you and using some space to test.
It is an older Dell R630, Tesla P40
Sadly the price for newer hardware is ridiculous at this time.
