RMNoise Client for Linux

Post by w4whw »

I noted that your noise reduction client software is apparently only available for Windows based operating systems. Do you plan on making a version of the client software available for Linux based operating systems?

Bill,

Welcome. Yes I plan to port the client to linux, although I can't offer a timeline.

I'm also considering a web based version...

Hi,

Also interested in linux client, ideally to be able to run a backround service via comand line (consol only app) that could be managed also via command line or socket/file handler.

Could do great with little raspberry pi client software with no x and with some external console to control it.

I'm commin too far in the future, but would be great seeing a ESP32 client (example) source, this would give unlimited application options including embedding it within the radio itself!

Looking forward for any updates

thanks

Hi there! I am also a Linux user (Ubuntu), and it will be a great idea provide the same great solution for the Linux community. I personally know several Ham users that have (for choice) Linux OS running on their computers. Also a web based solution would be great idea as well. Anyway, thank you guys for the outstanding job!

Count another vote for Linux. My hamshack has been on Linux for 22 years (currently Kubuntu 22.04) and I have never regretted it.

Thank you for the input - I am listening..

I just finished the code to automate the maintenance of N servers with a web based server control console. My nature is to focus 100% on one task at a time, and I forecast two tasks ahead of working on a Linux client:

1) I'm currently performing R&D on a CW related extension to the client. (So far I'm failing miserably, but I hope to wrestle success from the jaws of failure.) I expect this will end [one way or another] late July.

2) Next, I plan to circle back to R&D on the neural net architecture. I've wanted to do this for months, and I hope to both increase filtering performance and/or reduce latency without compromising the maximum clients per server. Each of these experiments can take weeks, and this will likely consume the balance of this calendar year.

In the interim, it has been reported that the RM Noise client works in wine. I haven't tried it myself and would enjoy more feedback on this subject.
